Sudha is all set to launch another project on 23 August 2008. She seeks out to all her friends, benefactors and large hearted souls to donate liberally for the cause.
During one of her concerts, she came across a rasika who spoke to her in distress about a child who was scheduled for heart surgery. This child was unable to be tended to and needed support on funds. It set Sudha thinking. She was inspired by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam's infinite love for children, whom he believes are the future torch bearers of our nation. So the idea grew within her - to attend to those under privileged children who needed support and thus do her collective bit for the future of our nation.
Sudha says "The Almighty has given me the gift of music, to reach out to each one of you. I urge you, in turn, to please join hands with me to serve for the cause and see for yourselves the happiness unfolding".
The choice for this year's Samudhaaya Day is the project 'HAVE A HEART FOR LITTLE HEARTS' - the funding for heart surgeries for under privileged children.
Samudhaaya also extends its hands to Sri Arunodayam, a home for the mentally challenged and destitute children who are terminally ill. These children do not come under the rehabilitation category as there is no rehabilitation applicable to them at all!! So they lead a life in the same fashion and are looked after until their end. While funding for the former reaches out to improve the quality of life, funding for the latter contributes to the sustenance of life itself!
The appeal letter for donations is available for viewing in the link below. All donations made to Samudhaaya Foundation directly are exempt from taxes under Section 80 (G) of the Income Tax Act.
